Apple TV+ gave the world its first look at the alternate-history comedy Fly Me to the Moon with Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum on Monday. It’s about events that definitely did not happen during the 1969 moon landing.

The film hits theaters this summer.

Fly Me to the Moon is a historical comedy

Apple TV+ built a reputation for serious historical dramas, including Killers of the Flower Moon, Napoleon and Greyhound. And Fly Me to the Moon is another history film, but it isn’t serious at all.

The official Apple description doesn’t make that particularly clear, though:

Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum star as a 1960s ad shark and a by-the-book launch director on a mission set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA’s historic moon landing. Coming to theaters this July.

The trailer makes it obvious this isn’t a drama, however. Johansson’s character is first tasked with making the upcoming space voyage seem more romantic to the American public, then with filming a fake version of the moon landing in case the real one ends in disaster.

Watch the trailer for a first look at the fun.

Details are on the film are scanty: Apple TV+ has yet to issue a press release. But it will undoubtedly star Scarlett Johansson, famous for Black Widow and other Marvel movies plus many other high profile roles. Channing Tatum has been in a variety of roles as well, like 21 Jump Street and Free Guy.

Coming this summer

Fly Me to the Moon is scheduled to premiere in theaters in July. It’ll undoubtedly appear on Apple TV+ some time after that.

Watching comes with a subscription to Apple TV+. The service costs $9.99 per month, with a seven-day free trial. You also can watch it via any tier of the Apple One subscription bundle.

The streaming video service also includes much more, of course. Apple produces an array of generally highly rated movies and series.  That includes dramas, comedies, musicals, children’s shows, nature documentaries, etc.
