If you’ve been looking to buy a HomePod mini for a while, Best Buy’s latest deal makes the small smart speaker much more affordable. The HomePod mini discount slashes $20 off the price, dropping it to just $79.99.

If you do the math, you’ll see that’s 20%.

HomePod mini discount means excellent audio for less

The HomePod mini is a compact Siri-powered speaker. It packs a full-range driver and dual passive radiators for deep bass and impressive sound quality. You can even pair two HomePod mini speakers together for stereo pairing and even better audio.

Apple also equipped the HomePod mini with four far-field microphones. These microphones allow the speaker to pick up your voice and activate Siri even from a distance. Thanks to Apple’s Ultra Wideband chip, you can seamlessly transfer music playback from your iPhone to the HomePod mini.

Control your smart home with this smart speaker

Besides sounding great, the HomePod mini sports a temperature and humidity sensor. With Apple Shortcuts integration, you can use these sensors to set up various automations. Even better, the speaker can act as a Thread router for your Thread-compatible smart home devices.

This discount makes HomePod mini much more affordable than Apple’s full-size smart speaker, which lists for $299. (If you want the full-size Apple smart speaker — which does sound better than the smaller version — Best Buy currently drops the price on the second-gen HomePod by $30 to $269.99.)

Another advantage that HomePod mini enjoys over its larger sibling is that it comes in an array of colors. You can get the discounted HomePod mini in blue, orange, space gray, white or yellow. The full-size HomePod comes in only midnight and white.

The only problem with either of the HomePods is Siri. Apple’s digital assistant is nowhere near as smart as rivals like Google Assistant or Alexa. (This might change once iOS 18 lands later this year, as Apple might add AI smarts to Siri.)

Until then, keep your expectations with Siri in check. Apple’s voice assistant should suffice for basic use, like checking the weather, setting alarms and controlling other smart home devices.

Save 20% with this rare HomePod mini discount

HomePod mini practically never sees a price drop, and definitely not one as great as $20. This is a great deal on Apple’s compact smart speaker that you should not miss. The sound quality alone makes buying the discounted HomePod mini a deal at just $79.99.
