If you’re ready to graduate from a 4K to a 5K external display but the high prices have held you back, here’s your chance. Right now you can take  off the regular price of Samsung’s direct competitor to Studio Display — the 27-inch Samsung ViewFinity S9 monitor.

This beauty is going for $1,068.61. That’s 33% off its regular price, which is the same as Studio Display’s steep cost (about $1,600).

If the time is right for you to invest in a 5K display, jump on this deal (though note the deal price may fluctuate). I was intrigued by Samsung’s ViewFinity S9 monitor when it came out in August. Since then, I’ve enjoyed (and envied) seeing it in users’ computer setups.

For some people, only Apple’s 5K Studio Display will do — because most people can’t afford its 6K Pro Display XDR, right? — but for others, a great deal on a near-equivalent screen will do nicely. The Samsung is a worthy competitor.

Like Studio Display, the 5K Samsung ViewFinity S9 Monitor offers realistic color representation and high resolution for visually oriented work and entertainment. Both displays offer 5K pixel resolution (5120 x 2880p), highly suitable for work like graphic design. And the Samsung packs a 4K webcam — better than the one in Studio Display — and app-based color calibration.

The monitor’s connectivity serves both Mac and Windows PCs, with Thunderbolt 4 and Mini DisplayPort inputs, in addition to USB-C. It also works with AirPlay. Thunderbolt 4 enables 90W of charging power and data transfer data speeds up to 40 Gbps.
