Monarch: Legacy of Monsters stomped onto the list of most popular shows on any streaming service this week. Even better, the Apple TV+ series with Godzilla and other kaiju debuted near the top of the list, according to a market analysis.
At the same time, Brie Larson’s Lessons in Chemistry continued to draw a big audience, week after week.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters starts out strong
Although Apple TV+ is one of the smaller streaming services, it’s able to regularly produce shows that pull in viewers in large numbers.Its post-apocalyptic drama Silo became the most popular streaming show earlier this year, for example. The same happened with quirky sci-fi show Severance in 2022.
Add now we can add Monarch: Legacy of Monsters to its list of successes. It was No. 3 on ReelGood’s list of Top 10 TV Shows on streaming during the week of November 16 through November 22. That’s the period the series debuted so it’s off to a very strong start.
Estimates from Reelgood and similar companies are necessary because streaming services don’t reveal how many people watch their films or series.
For those not already watching, Monarch is the new Apple TV+ series set in the MonsterVerse that contains classic kaiju.
The official description says:
“Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga — spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.”
The first three episodes of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters are available to stream now on Apple TV+. More will debut each Friday into early January.

Lessons in Chemistry stays consistently popular
Brie Larson is as big a celentrity as Godzilla, just not, you know, physically. And her star power has helped make Lessons in Chemistry another hit for Apple TV+. But it’s more than just Larson because the romance-drama has been on Top 10 popularity lists every week since season one debuted in back in October.
The series sits at No. 6 on ReelGood’s list of Top 10 TV Shows during the week of November 16 through November 22.
Here’s how Apple TV+ describes it:
“Set in the early 1950s, Lessons in Chemistry follows Elizabeth Zott (Larson), whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a patriarchal society. When Elizabeth finds herself fired from her lab, she accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show, and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives — and the men who are suddenly listening — a lot more than recipes.”
The season finale of Lessons in Chemistry premiered on Wednesday, November 22, so all episodes are available to stream now on Apple TV+.
