Steve Wozniak suffered a minor stroke but is now recovering at home.
The Woz is now 73 but not really retired from a career that included co-founding Apple with Steve Jobs in 1977.
Good news: The Woz is ‘doing good’ after health emergency
The Woz was the technical half of the duo that created the first Apple computers. And he was also by far the nicer of the two. In a famous incident from the early days of the company, he objected when Jobs barred some employees from receiving stock options. Woz then gave away about $100 million of his own Apple shares to employees who otherwise wouldn’t qualify.
So long-time Apple aficionados were likely worried when word got out that Wozniak was in a Mexico City hospital. Fortunately, the health problem was relatively minor.
And it all started with a dizzy spell, and a trip to hospital. “The hospital did an M.R.I., he added, and determined that he had a small capillary leak as well as symptoms of vertigo,” reported The New York Times.
But on Thursday, he told NYT, “I’m back home and feeling good.”
Wozniak is not retired
Despite his age, the Apple co-founder keeps up a busy schedule. He wasn’t in Mexico to relax but to speak at the World Business Forum. He had planned to speak in Dubai, Colombia and Azerbaijan before his medical emergency.
Recently, he’s been a vocal critic of the rush toward artificial intelligence, including being one of the most famous names signing an open letter earlier this year urging a pause on development of advanced AI.
