Nice-guy dad. Loving wife. Eye-rolling teens. Cute and happy baby. The trailer Apple TV+ dropped Monday for action-comedy film The Family Plan really has it all — including tons and tons of killing.

Mark Wahlberg stars as assassin-turned-straight-arrow husband and dad whose past rushes back in a hail of bullets, even as he still tries to hide everything from wife Michelle Monaghan and the kids. The movie premieres December 15 on Apple TV+.

The whole family has a big laugh when super-normal dad Dan Moran (Wahlberg) finally fesses up to his past during a family trip to Las Vegas. But he’s actually on the run from an army of thugs out to kill him, and he’s not trying to be funny (though Wahlberg is).

The baby gets it, laughing adorably in scene after scene.

Here’s how Apple described the action-comedy:

Dan Morgan loves his quiet suburban life as a devoted husband, father of three and successful car salesman. But that’s only half the story. Decades earlier, he was an elite government assassin tasked with eliminating the world’s deadliest threats. When enemies from his past track him down, Dan packs his unsuspecting wife (Michelle Monaghan), angsty teen daughter, pro-gamer teen son and adorable 10-month-old baby into their minivan and takes off on an impromptu cross-country road trip to Las Vegas. Determined to protect his family — while treating them to the vacation of a lifetime — Dan must put his long-dormant skills into action, without revealing his true identity.

Along with Wahlberg (Boogie Nights, Ted) and Monaghan (Gone Baby Gone, Fallout) as parents getting to know each other in a new way, Irish actor Ciarán Hinds (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Belfast) stars as the baddy who sends waves of killers at the happy family. He was great as Gaius Julius Caesar in the HBO series Rome. So this killer comedy features a villain with no shortage of gravitas, anyway.

Apple Original Film The Family Plan comes from Skydance Media. Simon Cellan Jones directs. David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger produce for Skydance along with Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson through Municipal Pictures. John G. Scotti executive produces.
