Netflix raised the price of two tiers of its streaming video service by up to $3 a month. This comes a week after subscription fees for Disney+ and Hulu went up.
The changes make Apple TV+ one of the lowest-priced streaming services.
Netflix raises subscription costs
Apple’s video streaming service is a small but growing player in the market. It’s possible the comparatively lost cost of the service is a factor in its growth — it’s $6.99 per month for ad-free viewing.
For comparison, Netflix just announced that it’s raising the cost of its Basic plan to $11.99, up $2. (But this option is being phased out.) And a Premium plan will be $22.99, up $3. These hikes have already gone into effect.
However, the cost of the streaming service’s Standard plan is staying at $15.49 while its ad-supported option is sticking at $6.99.
Disney+ and Hulu, too
Netflix isn’t the only company hiking its prices. On October 12, the cost of an ad-free Disney+ subscription jumped from $10.99 per month to $13.99 a month. And on the same day, a Hulu ad-free subscription rose to $17.99 per month, up $3.
The last time Apple TV+ bumped up its subscription fee was October 2022, when the price went up $2. This was the first increase since the service debuted back in 2019.
