iPhone users who miss the tabs from desktop browsers now have Vivaldi on iOS. The browser also blocks ads and trackers, and syncs between the mobile and desktop versions.

It’s free and available today.

Vivaldi on iOS offers desktop-style browsing

iPhone comes with Safari, and Chrome is a popular alternative. But there are other options too, usually for people looking for specific features not available in one of the established apps.

The draw of Vivaldi on iOS is desktop-style tabs. The browser includes a tab bar similar to the one in the Mac version of Safari.

It also includes what the developer calls Speed Dials – icons for favorite web sites. These are prominently displayed when opening a blank tab.

A unique feature is Notes, which lets users jot down reminders, ideas, to-dos, etc. while browsing. Text from websites can be easily copied into Notes.

Protects privacy

“We have zero interest in tracking or selling your data. So Vivaldi tracks none of your behavior,” promises the developer. And there’s a built-in blocker for trackers and ads so other companies can’t spy on you either.

The browser was already available for macOS, Windows and Android. Bookmarks, saved passwords and other stored data are synced between these versions.

Naturally, the app includes other traditional browser features, as shown in this image of the user interface:

“Now you can experience browsing that is powerful, personal, and private,” said Jon von Tetzchner, Vivaldi co-founder and CEO, in a statement.

Vivaldi on iOS is available now on the App Store. It’s free to download, and there are no in-app purchases. The software is also compatible with iPadOS.
