If you have a high-quality XLR microphone, how do you use it with your computer? Shure made that easier Monday with its new MXV2U USB digital audio interface that turns XLR mics into USB mics.

Using the simple, compact interface, you can adapt any XLR mic to USB and start recording, podcasting, streaming and more.

Shure MVX2U USB Interface

The new Shure MVX2U USB Interface adds little bulk or weight to your mic setup because it’s not much more than a USB cable with a XLR adapter on the end. One end connects to the XLR microphone and the other end connect via an included USB-C cable to your computer.

The interface offers gain up to 60dB and phantom power up to 48v. That’s enough power and volume for most condenser and other microphones. Shure wants people to use it with its mics, of course, so it noted the adapter is great for the well-regarded Shure SM7B Vocal Dynamic Microphone.

The ShurePlus MOTIV Desktop app works with the adapter, giving you tools to fine-tune recording and streaming. They include auto-leveling, compression, EQ management and other features.

The adapter receives firmware updates. Those along with in-app updates will help keep you up to date on features.
