Want to create an immersive cinematic experience almost anywhere? Now you can with the GV31 Portable Projector BenQ released earlier this month.

With built-in Netflix and Android TV among other streaming options, the 1080p projector can stream on walls or ceilings via AirPlay from your Mac, iPad or iPhone, or from Android devices via ChromeCast.

BenQ GV31 Portable Projector

“A luxury theater for your ceiling,” is one way the company described the new projector. “BenQ’s newly released GV31 1080p portable projector revolutionizes home movie experiences.”

It noted the device comes with BenQ’s Cinematic Color technology with 300-lumen brightness. Using streaming apps and devices via Apple Airplay and Google Chromecast, you can easily stream shows or films.

Cast a 100-inch screen

You can project on a surface from 7 feet away for an 80-inch screen, or pull back for a 100-inch screen from 8.7 feet away. And smart autofocus takes away any need for manual adjustment.

An innovative rotating lens offers versatility with myriad projection angles, BenQ said. For example, you can project it high on a wall or straight up at the ceiling for literally laid-back viewing.

Wired for sound or wireless audio input

Charge it up via USB-C PD and power up other devices using the other USB-C port.

You can use the projector in wireless speaker mode or with its built-in 2.1 channel sound system. It features two 4-watt midrange tweeters and an 8W woofer for the low end. To use it as just a speaker, you can simply stream music to it via Wi-Fi.

BenQ said the projector can achieve 180 minutes of video playback and 300 minutes of music playtime before needing charging. You charge it via USB-C PD, and the charged up projector can charge other devices with USB-C.

You can buy an optional carrying case for the projector to take the party anywhere, BenQ said. While several BenQ projectors are on Amazon, like the similar GV30, this one isn’t there yet.
