La Maison is a one-hour drama set within a contemporary French fashion house. It focuses on the lives of powerful families involved in the world of fashion, aspirational French elegance and luxury.
The upcoming Apple TV+ series stars a who’s who of French actors, including Lambert Wilson and Amira Casar.
Apple TV+ is an international affair
Most Apple TV+ series and movies are filmed in the United States, but there are some international productions, too. Series like the epic Pachinko, the wine-driven Drops of God and psycho sci-fi show Dr. Brain give the streaming service some extra international heft. Now there’s a new addition to the list, with the announcement of a series order for La Maison.
Getting shows from outside the United States avoids the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike, which already shut down production of Severance season two, as well as the concurrent Screen Actors Guild strike.
Get ready for Parisian-style backstabbing in La Maison
The official Apple description of La Maison says:
“High fashion meets high drama in this behind-the-curtain look at how a family dynasty of an iconic fashion house is thrown into scandal and reinvention by a viral video featuring star designer Vincent LeDu, leaving his family’s legendary haute couture house hanging by a thread. Perle Foster, Vincent’s former muse who is still in his shadow, teams up with next-generation, visionary designer Paloma Castel to save and recreate the century-old Maison LEDU, claiming their rightful place in both the LeDu family and the fashion world.”
La Maison stars seven-time César nominee Lambert Wilson (De Gaulle), César nominee Amira Casar (Call Me by Your Name), Most Promising Actress César winner Zita Hanrot (Fatima) and many more.
The series was created by showrunners José Caltagirone and Valentine Milville. It is directed by award-winning filmmakers Fabrice Gobert (The Returned) and Daniel Grou alias Podz (Lupin).
