The Satechi Triple 4K Display Docking Station offers a dozen ports of a variety of types. Among the range of accessories that can be connected are up to three 4K/60Hz displays. And that includes Macs that ordinarily support only one external monitor.

Also included are multiple USB ports and Ethernet.

Macs with the basic Apple M1 or M2 processor — like the new 15-inch MacBook Air, can handle only a single external monitor. Fortunately, there are workarounds, like this new dock from Satechi.

“With this Triple 4K docking station, M1/M2 users can maximize their display options with up to three connected screens and enjoy the benefits of multiple screens for enhanced productivity and flexibility,” said Satechi.

The Triple 4K Display Docking Station sports two DisplayPort 1.4 and three HDMI 2.0 ports. These give users a range of options for connecting the monitors.

In addition, there is a trio of USB 3.0 ports that offer 5Gbps data transfers, a USB 3.1 Gen 2 port that runs at 10Gbps, and one USB-C 3.1 Gen 2 port that supports both 10Gbps and 7.5W charging. The side host port also supports up to 100W pass-through charging so the host computer can stay powered up.

In addition to macOS, the dock is compatible with Windows.

Of course, this Satechi dock isn’t the only one that can add multiple screens to an M1/M2 Mac. Some rival examples include the 13-port Plugable UD-6950PDH and the multiport Anker 563 USB-C Docking Station.
