The just-launched Diablo IV is not available for macOS, which angered many Mac gamers. Turns out, one of those people is actor Whoopi Goldberg.

The frustration stems from the fact that previous titles in the long-running game series from Blizzard have supported Mac.

No Diablo IV for you, Mac!!

There were RPG dungeon crawlers before Diablo launched in 1997, but the game set itself apart by adding a heavy emphasis on collecting loot. It was a formula that made the game huge popular, and brought multiple sequels, up to Monday’s release of Diablo IV. But the latest version is the first of the core offerings to not support Mac.

Many Mac gamers are angry at the decision, and now they have a spokesperson: Whoopi Goldberg. The star ofABC’s The View took to Instagram on Wednesday to complain.

She is, in her own words, pissed because she went ahead and bought the new version on the assumption she’d be able to play it on her Mac because that’s where she’d enjoyed the previous ones.

“This is what I’m asking you, Blizzard Entertainment,” said Golberg. “This is Whoopi. You know how much I love Diablo. I would like y’all to let those of us who use our Apples to play. Allow us to play on the Apple. Take Diablo IV and let us do it and have a great time.”

Blizzard has so far said nothing about bringing the game to macOS. But Rod Fergusson, head of Diablo development at the game company, is undoubtedly aware of the frustration. He said via Twitter on Wednesday, “I did not have ‘Whoopi Goldberg yelling at me on Instagram’ on my #DiabloIV launch bingo card.”

The Game Porting Toolkit that Apple recently unveiled at WWDC23 could be a big help in porting the game from PC to macOS.
