People go nuts for solid wood on everything from guitars to flooring. But how about an all-solid-wood mechanical keyboard?

Japanese outfit Hacoa has one decked out in wood from the keycaps down through the housing, in either walnut or cherry. It’s called the Hacoa Full Ki-Board Wireless.

And it can be yours for the stout price of 99,000Yen ($745) plus shipping costs. That’s more than a base Mac mini.

Hacoa Full Ki-Board Wireless

The Hacoa Full Ki-Board Wireless isn’t the world’s first wooden mechanical keyboard, though the company appears to do a good and thorough job of it. But it’s out of stock for the moment after launching Monday.

I say “thorough job” because it’s not just the frame or the keycaps wrapped in solid wood (rather than a thin laminate or veneer), it’s the whole thing — including the laser-indented keycaps.

That should keep the keys’ letters and numbers readable indefinitely, unless you’re such a furious typist you plan to wear them down to nubs in a hurry.

And because natural wood is used, each keyboard should look slightly different depending on the wood grain and coloration.

The pretty keeb comes with an English-language layout, compatibility with both PCs and Macs, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity and USB-C charging.

The keyboard’s walnut and cherry stains come with a protective urethane coating that should take a long time to wear through.

Keyboard features:

You can use it with a Mac or PC.
