Adonit Star is an iPad stylus for those who love antiques but don’t want to forgo modern technology. It’s designed to look like a fountain pen, not the usual plastic pencil.
It’s an accessory any 19th century lawyer would be proud to own. But is surprisingly affordable.
Adonit Star merges iPad stylus with fountain pen
The Apple Pencil is a simple white cylinder with a writing tip, and it set the tone for most iPad styli. In general, they’re designed to match the modern look of the tablet
Not the Adonit Star. It harks back to writing instruments of a century ago and more. That makes the stylus a match for leather iPad cases.
The body is metallic, it feels solid and there’s a removable cap. The tip mimics the “arrowhead” design of a traditional fountain pen.

No matter what it seems to be, the Adonit Star is definitely a functional iPad stylus. It includes a 1 mm tip for fine writing control. And it supports palm rejection so the user can rest their hand comfortably on the screen without making unwanted marks.
“We are truly in a digital world, with the majority of business taking place electronically, which is why we developed a stylus that mirrors the professional look of a fountain pen and belongs in a boardroom or on an executive’s desk,” said Jasper Li, CTO, and co-founder of Adonit.
Bluetooth is not necessary for iPad and stylus to communicate. Just activate the accessory and start writing. It can also be used for sketching.
The accessory offers 11-hours of use on a single charge. A USB-C port replenishes the battery, and a 4-minute quick charge provides one hour of use.
Surprisingly affordable
The Adonit Star launched January 10, so it can be ordered now. It costs $49.99. For comparison, the Apple Pencil 2 is $129.
