Ahead of the holiday season, Apple is providing up to 10% discounts to businesses on 2021 MacBook Pro models. The offer is only applicable on bulk orders.
Apple rarely provides such deep discounts to companies, especially in the lucrative holiday quarter.
Apple’s special Mac campaign for small businesses
The 10% off is on top of Apple’s markdown pricing to small and midsize businesses. Bloomberg reports that Apple highlights this offer as a “very special Mac campaign” in its marketing materials.
Companies buying between five and 24 MacBook Pros will receive 8% off. This goes up to 10% if they order 25 or more units. The offer only applies on the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros and runs until December 24.
Apple’s sales team employees are reaching out to small businesses to push the special Mac campaign.
Mac revenue to fall ‘substantially’ in holiday quarter
In the July-September quarter, Apple reported a 25% increase in Mac sales over the same quarter last year, the best in its history. This was thanks to the M2 MacBook Air and MacBook Pro launch, plus the improved availability of the excellent 2021 MacBook Pros and Mac Studio.
The story won’t be the same for this holiday quarter, though. Apple CFO Luca Maestri warned investors that Mac revenue would decline “substantially” in the last quarter year over year.
In the same quarter in 2021, Apple launched the 2021 MacBook Pros, which deliver outstanding performance and battery life. For 2022, the company has no new Mac products lined up for launch in the last quarter.
The steep discount from Apple to businesses could be seen as a way to counteract the revenue loss. The company also could be looking to reduce its 2021 MacBook Pro inventory before unveiling the new M2 Pro/Max-powered models in Q1 2023.
