Victrola, a company that built its reputation on the phonograph, is keeping up with the times by launching a pair of stylish, portable Bluetooth speakers on Tuesday.

The Victrola’s Music Edition speakers are designed to look good indoors but can also stand up to the elements when used in the yard or by the pool.

Victrola Music Edition speakers promise quality sound

Apple makes AirPods headphones and the HomePod smart speaker, but it has yet to release a portable speaker. That leaves the market open to third-party products. Victrola is jumping in.

“When we started on the Music Edition line of Bluetooth speakers, we listened carefully and heard people wanted the products to sound good, feel good and look good, both on the go and displayed in the home,” said Victrola’s CEO, Scott Hagen.

The speakers are available in black or silver with durable anodized aluminum grills. They have an IP67 dust/waterproof rating, and offer dual-speaker pairing to provide stereo sound.

Big and little

Music Edition 1 is the more portable option, designed for individual use, but it has a two-inch driver and a passive bass radiator. It can go 12 hours on a change, and gets power through a USB-C port.

The larger, more powerful Music Edition 2 bluetooth speaker is suited for small parties or outdoor gatherings. It includes a 3.5-inch driver with a one-inch tweeter and passive bass radiator. In addition to Bluetooth, there’s also an aux-in port for connecting other devices.

Victrola built a wireless charging pad into the top of the ME2 for keeping an iPhone or Android powered while streaming music. And it offers 20 hours of music on a single charge.
