The latest update to the RPG Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm adds two new sidequests. Plus, the latest version makes the on-screen character faster and more agile, and improves the audio.

The new update for the multi-platform game takes it to version 4.0. It’s code named Secrets of Gaia.

Oceanhorn 2 is the best RPG on Apple Arcade

Oceanhorn 2 from Cornfox & Brothers is a standout role-playing game available through the Apple Arcade gaming service. Players take on the role of a young knight as he explores the sprawling world of Gaia and challenges the Warlock Mesmeroth and his formidable Dark Army.

It launched in 2019, but multiple updates have been released since then. The latest adds the sidequests The Shadow of Genco Corporation and The Sailor’s Widow.

The mechanics of the game has been improved as well. “We’ve improved responsiveness across the board: Hero is now faster and more agile, combat has been polished to give you better feedback, and a new lock-on system is now available using both controller and keyboard,” promises Cornfox in a blog post.

In addition, Oceanhorn 2‘s on-screen radar makes it easier to find the main quest and sidequests, without confusing the two.

As noted, Cornfox also improved the sound effects. And the game now offers enhanced image quality when played on a Mac with a Mac M1 Max or M1 Ultra processor.

Play it now on Apple Arcade

The fourth version of Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm is available now in the Apple Arcade section of the App Store. It supports iPhone and iPad touchscreens as well as external game controllers.

Don’t mis the Cult of Mac review of the first major update: the Golden Edition. The second update embedded a collectible card game called Arcadian Tarock into the RPG.

Oceanhorn 2 comes with a subscription to Apple Arcade. It’s $4.99-a-month but includes about 200 titles, and a family can share a subscription. Plus, players can be assured that there are zero in-app purchases, ads or loot boxe

Cornfox & Brothers also offers Oceanhorn: Chronos Dungeon, a less in-depth RPG suitable for casual play.
