The cost of an Apple Music subscription for students just jumped 20%. The music streaming service is still available at a substantial discount, but it’s no longer half price.
This follows a similar price increase in other parts of the world.
Students get less discount on Apple Music
Apple Music offers over 90 million songs and 30,000 expert-curated playlists. It can be played on a wide variety of devices, including Roku.
The regular price is $9.99 per month, but students have been able to subscribe for half that cost. Not any more.
The price is now $5.99 per month. The change applies in the U.S., Canada and the U.K., according to 9to5Mac.
In May, Apple hiked the Apple Music subscription price for students in many other parts of the world. The cost increased in India, South Africa and other countries.
Non-students can choose from a $9.99-per-month individual subscription, or a family can share a plan for $14.99. And there’s also the Voice plan that lets subscribers access the music catalog using only Siri commands.
