Colin Farrell will bring a little 'Sugar' to Apple TV+

Apple TV+ bought the rights to Sugar, a new genre-bending mystery series starring Colin Farrell and created by Mark Protosevich.

There was a lot of interest in the project, with Netflix also reportedly bidding on it.

Expect Sugar to be a genre-bending mystery

While publicly available details on Sugar are thin, Protosevich appears to have wowed streaming services enough start a bidding war.

Apple itself has little to say other than to mention the people involved in the project. Deadline revealed a bit more, saying the series will be “an LA-set  contemporary take on the private detective story.”

There’s a lot of talent involved. Colin Farrell is hot right now, especially after his role in The Batman.

Mark Protosevich has some solid credits to his name, including The Cell, I Am Legend and Thor. Sugar will be directed by Oscar-nominee Fernando Meirelles (City of God, Constant Gardner, Two Popes).

When available, the mystery series will be an exclusive to Apple TV+. Watching will comes with a $4.99-per-month subscription to Apple’s streaming service.
