The Apple TV+ teaser trailer for the upcoming animated film Luck explains how luck really works: it’s controlled by magical creatures. The star-studded film by Skydance Animation will be about the unluckiest person in the world visiting the Land of Luck.

Apple TV+ gets Luck-y

The film tells the story of Sam Greenfield, the unluckiest person in the world. When she discovers the never-before-seen Land of Luck, Sam must unite with the magical creatures there to turn her luck around.

Eva Noblezada (Hadestown, Miss Saigon, Yellow Rose) provides the voice for Sam, and Simon Pegg (Mission: Impossible, Ice Age, Star Trek Beyond) voices Bob, a lucky black cat who aids in the adventure… and narrates the teaser trailer.

Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony winner Whoopi Goldberg plays the head of security for the Land of Luck, while two-time Academy Award winner Jane Fonda voices a dragon who’s CEO of Good Luck. Other stars adding their voices to Luck include John Ratzenberger, Eva Noblezada, Flula Borg, Lil Rel Howery, Colin O’Donoghue and Adelynn Spoon.

The screenplay is by Kiel Murray (Raya and the Last Dragon, Cars 3, Cars), Jon Aibel and Glenn Berger (Kung Fu Panda 2, Trolls).

Luck is set to debut globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, August 5.

Apple TV+ gets animated

This is only the second animated film on Apple’s streaming service after Wolfwalkers in 2020.  But Skydance Animation is also producing Spellbound for  the service. This film is a musical about a girl who sets out to break the spell that has divided her kingdom.

And there’s already plenty of animated series on Apple TV+. There’s The Snoopy ShowWolfboy and the Everything Factory from Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the Peabody-winning series Stillwater and many more.

Apple TV+ costs $4.99 a month, and there are no commercials. Subscribers can watch on Mac, iPad and iPhone, of course, but also on smart TV platforms.
