Apple TV+ on Monday gave the first glimpse at Prehistoric Planet, its highly anticipated series of documentaries focusing on dinosaurs and other ancient animals. It’ll be narrated by Sir David Attenborough, and produced by Jon Favreau and Mike Gunton.

The eye-popping trailer shows off the series’ photorealistic visual effects from MPC (The Lion King, The Jungle Book).

Apple TV+ Prehistoric Planet dinosaur documentary looks completely amazing

A five-part series, Prehistoric Planet combines award-winning wildlife filmmaking, the latest paleontology findings and state-of-the-art technology to unveil the spectacular habitats and inhabitants of ancient Earth.

From revealing eye-opening parenting techniques of Tyrannosaurus Rex to exploring the mysterious depths of the oceans and the deadly dangers in the sky, the documentary series brings Earth’s history to life like never before.

Set to debut globally on Apple TV+ from Monday, May 23 through Friday, May 27, Prehistoric Planet will transport viewers 66 million years in the past to discover our world — and the dinosaurs that roamed it.

It is being produced for Apple by BBC Studios Natural History Unit (the Emmy-winning Planet Earth). Producer Jon Favreau is best known for Marvel and Star Wars films and series. Mike Gunton has produced many nature documentaries, including The Year the Earth Changed for Apple.

There’s also a sneak peek of Prehistoric Planet starring a family of Tyrannosaurs.
