German audio powerhouse Sennheiser rolled out its Ambeo operating system for Ambeo soundbars Tuesday, adding AirPlay 2 support and more. The company also distributed a major software update to its Smart Control app, adding new features.
Sennheiser’s new Ambeo OS for soundbars
Sennheiser introduced its Ambeo operating system for its line of Ambeo soundbars, bringing a new experience with AirPlay 2. The company also added features to its Smart Control app for use with those soundbars as well as other Sennheiser products.
The Ambeo OS for Ambeo soundbars adds support for AirPlay 2, Tidal Connect and Spotify Connect. Sennheiser said the software runs faster and is more responsive when users run the Sennheiser Smart Control app in conjunction with the soundbar and iPhone connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
“The all-new Ambeo OS is a game changer for our Ambeo Soundbar, and we are certain our customers are going to love it,” said Maximilian Voigt, product manager for the soundbar line. “By offering even more audio streaming providers and an improved user experience, Sennheiser customers will enjoy personalized high-resolution audio streaming with enhanced features.”
Rebuilt Smart Control app
The company effectively rebuilt its Smart Control app, it said. The update brings new elements improving functionality of Sennheiser headphones and earbuds, including Sound Check and Sound Zones features.
The updated Smart Control app also offers users more options for personalization. User accounts make it even easier than before to transfer settings between different Sennheiser products.
“The next update to our Sennheiser Smart Control app will offer our customers a level of personalization that they have never experienced before,” said Polina Gartenfluss, Sennheiser Consumer Mobile Applications product manager. “On top of individualized EQ presets and tailored sound setting for different locations, we are giving our customers access to personalized content to better meet their needs.”
