One of the impressive features of the growing number of moderately priced, high-quality earbuds on the market is just how long playback lasts between charges. That’s in part because the case where you store them also charges them. But Audio-Technica just rolled out a new set of earbuds that really moves the needle on battery life.

The company’s new ATH-CKS50TW Solid Bass Truly Wireless Earbuds claim up to 20 hours of continuous playback on a single charge, or 50 hours counting the case’s charge. All that, plus the new buds feature low latency and active noise-cancellation (ANC).

Released on Tuesday, the ATH-CKS50TW wireless earbuds carry several features intended for audiophiles. For example, they incorporate a new 9mm Solid Bass HD TWS driver. The company said that provides deep, powerful bass in the music.

As noted, the earbuds have an impressive battery life of 20 hours from a single charge. The included charging case jacks up the range to as much as 50 hours. The case also provides fast charging, in which 10 minutes of charging can add 90 minutes of use.

In-ear design

The design of Audio-Technica’s new buds features a snug fit inside the ear canal. That reduces the loss of bass and helps with noise-cancellation and the effectiveness of hear-through features. The company said a unique antenna structure helps ensure a stable Bluetooth connection to your iPhone.

Using Bluetooth 5.2, the earbuds can connect to two devices at once. Qualcomm TrueWireless Mirroring provides interruption-free listening on iOS and Android devices.

The earbuds also include a low-latency mode, meant to reduce any sound delay while you play games or watch videos.

Bearing IPX4-equivalent resistance from rain and water, the Audio-Technica ATH-CKS50TW earbuds also include an automatic feature that powers them on when they are removed from the case. And a fast-pair function works with some Android devices.
