Square Off Pro is an interactive electronic chessboard that lets you play in person or online with the same physical pieces. Dubbed “the world’s first rollable tournament e-chessboard,” the Square Off Pro is on sale now for $225 (regularly $249).

A portable electronic chessboard

The Square Off Pro made waves at the giant CES tech show, and it’s easy to see why. This smart chessboard adds a new layer to traditional and e-chess games. You can compete face to face, online or alone, with physical chess pieces that aren’t stuck on a screen.

Featured on CNET, TechCrunch and Engadget, this smart chessboard can record any moves you make and show them back to you in the Square Off Chess app. That app also lets you play against an AI with 20 difficulty levels.

The Square Off Pro’s advanced AI also analyzes any moves made on your board, so you can learn from past games. Just connect your board to Chess.com, play against a digital opponent, and then study the playback to learn how to do better next time.

AI chess training, too

And that’s not the only way this electronic chess board can improve your game. If you want a little extra guidance, the LEDs on the board can guide your moves and help you avoid errors. They also make it easier to see during night matches. Luckily, the battery can last for five hours on a single charge (and recharges with a USB-C cable).

Tournament-size but totally portable, this rollable chessboard lets you carry the game of kings wherever you go. Take it to the park, to a friend’s house, or just play alone and enjoy some intellectual stimulation.
