The third-generation iPhone SE, which could make its first appearance at the big Peek Performance event later today, may be the first entry-level Apple handset with MagSafe support and a Ceramic Shield display.

That’s according to the most recent rumor, which also claims iPhone SE 3 will offer improved battery life and a better camera for the same $399.

iPhone SE 3 set for big internal upgrades

iPhone SE 3 won’t deliver the major design overhaul some fans have been hoping for. But Apple is expected to make significant improvements on the inside by adding an A15 Bionic chip and 5G connectivity for the first time.

And it may not stop there, according to tipster yeux1122.

MagSafe and Ceramic Shield incoming?

Posting on South Korean website Naver, yeux1122 claims iPhone SE will steal a number of other features from its pricier siblings — including MagSafe support, and Ceramic Shield glass to protect its 4.7-inch screen.

The same source also predicts improvements to iPhone SE’s rear-facing camera and battery life — which will likely be necessary for 5G, which consumes more energy than 4G. All these things seem like perfectly plausible upgrades.

Do they mean iPhone SE will cost more? Apparently not. The third-generation device is expected to start at $399, just like its predecessor.

iPhone SE 3 could appear today

Yeux1122 hasn’t been around for too long, but they have made accurate claims in the past — particularly about the most recent iPad mini. We should find out whether their latest report is reliable in just a few hours.

iPhone SE 3 is expected to be one of many new devices that will be unveiled during Apple’s big Peek Performance event later today. If you don’t want to miss it, be sure to watch it live from 10 a.m. PT, 1 p.m. ET, or 6 p.m. GMT.
