Concealed in Wednesday’s invite to the Apple spring event is an augmented reality Easter egg. It’s a bonus to make the invite seem cool, and perhaps get Mac fans excited about what’s coming.

The graphic for the March 8 event has an Apple floating in space. And it looks even better in AR.

To see the Easter egg, go to the official Apple Events page. This must be done on an iPhone, not an iPad or Mac. Next, tap on the big Apple graphic you see on that web page. (It’s just above “Apple Event.”) That will launch the ARKit augmented-reality viewer built into iOS.

The Apple spring event invite has a 3D, multicolored Apple logo. The AR version puts it into motion. And it’s seemingly floating in your office, living room, wherever. You can walk around and look it it from all sides through the power of augmented reality.

The song playing is “Wonder” by Yung Bae Featuring Channel Tres.

Those who don’t have access to an iPhone can see the effect in a tweet from Greg “Joz” Joswiak, Apple’s global head of marketing.

Multiple devices expected with ‘peek performance’

People love to look for hints of what Apple will unveil in its event invites. It’s possible the multicolored Apple logo in the latest one is a reference to the range of colors available for an upcoming iPhone SE or 27-inch iMac.

As noted in Joswiak’s tweet, the theme for the event is “Peek performance.” That might be about 5G or speedy Mac processors. For more details on these and other potential products, don’t miss Cult of Mac’s guide on what to expect at the Apple spring 2022 event.
