‘You’ll just have to wait.’ Siri won’t spill a date for Apple’s big spring event.

We’re still yet to see an official invite for Apple’s big spring event, which all but rules out the rumored March 8 date. So, when is it likely to happen? Don’t bother asking Siri. As usual, the digital assistant proves less than helpful.

“You can’t hurry news” is the response you get when asking what will be announced at the next Apple event. “No, you’ll just have to wait.”

Siri keeps us waiting for Apple news

After an event has been confirmed by Apple, Siri usually provides details on the date and time — and a link to watch it live. It’s rare that the assistant spills these details early, but it has happened at least once before.

Naturally, Apple fans hope that will happen again, so some are already probing Siri on what’s to come. Aaron Zollo discovered Tuesday that if you ask what will be announced at the next Apple event, you get a rather humorous response:

It’s now unlikely a March 8 event will happen. Apple almost always delivers its keynote invites at least a week ahead of time. With that said, we’re now looking at March 15 at the earliest — or perhaps even later.

Based on Apple’s most recent moves, a spring event might not happen until April. That’s when it hosted events in 2021 and 2020. The last time Cupertino held an event in March was in 2019, when it first unveiled Apple Arcade.

Siri is a tease

This isn’t the first time Siri has been updated to provide witty responses when quizzed about Apple’s plans. Back in 2015, she teased “Time Travel” for Apple Watch, with “plutonium-powered flux capacitors sold separately.”

A year later, Siri got in on the Game of Thrones hype and channeled her inner Khalesi. “Neither mutiny, disassembly, nor zero battery will induce me to dishonor the oath I have sworn to secrecy,” she said when asked about WWDC.

When the next Apple event is finally confirmed, we’ll be sure to let you know.
