Find out what it’s like to swing through the trees as a gibbon in a game that debuted Friday on Apple Arcade. Gibbon: Beyond the Trees is the story of a family trying to survive amid an encroaching human threat.

The ecological adventure is available to play on a variety of Apple devices.

Gibbon: Beyond the Trees is for the apes

The latest game developed by Broken Rules aims to be both fun and educational. Players will need to learn brachiation, the way real gibbons swing through the trees. And they must master acrobatic moves, including launching from another gibbon’s hands in mid air.

Gibbon: Beyond the Trees challenges players to explore varied environments, from the wild jungles of Southeast Asia to the hectic human world beyond. And it deals with challenging but acute environmental topics, including deforestation, poaching and climate change.

It is a creation of Broken Rules, developers of Old Man’s Journey, an Apple Design Award winner. It also developed ELOH.

Now on Apple Arcade

Gibbon: Beyond the Trees by Broken Rules is available now on Apple’s gaming service. There are versions for iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple TV. No matter the platform, an external game controller is an option.

Fans of this type of animal-themed game can play others on Apple’s subscription service. Like Alba: A Wildlife Adventure or Nuts — A Surveillance MysteryAny or all of these can be enjoyed with a single $4.99-a-month subscription to Apple Arcade. And a family can share a subscription.
