Philips Hue unleashed a dozen new lighting scenes in the Hue app on Monday. So now you can dress up your HomeKit-connected lighting with delightful colorations like Amber Bloom, Painted Sky, Orange Fields and Blue Planet — among many others.

The release comes soon after the company put out a trio of cool vintage-vibe lights for outdoor use.

12 new Philips Hue lighting scenes

Once upon a time, Philips Hue light scenes included just Bright, Dimmed and Nightlight options. But the collection evolved, and now you can pick from dozens of scenes with names evoking exotic places, like Chinatown, Ibiza, Spring Lake and Winter Mountain.

Signify-owned Philips Hue let the world know about the 12 brand-new scenes on Twitter. The company said the scenes are live in the latest Hue app update.

Accessing the new scenes

It’s easy to find the new scenes. Tap on a room or zone in the Hue app. Then scroll to the end of the My Scenes section and tap the Hue scene gallery tile. After that, scroll down to the new Lush and Futuristic categories.

The Lush category holds “bright, colorful” scenes like Amber Bloom, Painted Sky, Orange Fields and Blue Planet. And the Futuristic category offers “vibrant, highly saturated” scenes, such as Soho, Magneto, Disturbia and Hal (we’re guessing that last one evokes the problematic AI from 2001: A Space Odyssey).

To preview any of the scenes with your Hue lights, just tap on the scene name, or swipe through the tiles, selecting other themes. When you find something you like, tap Add to my scenes to add its tile to a room.

For use with colored or tunable white Hue lights

Philips Hue designed the colorful new scenes for use with color-enabled Hue lights. Using those lights, you can animate the scene by tapping the “play” icon from the scene’s tile.

But you can also use the scenes with tunable-white Hue light. In that case, the Hue app adjusts the bulbs’ color temperatures to imitate the color scene.

Just make sure you have the latest update to the Hue app.
