The first tvOS 15.4 beta brings an improved video player with a built-in “Up Next” queue to Apple TV. The update, released Thursday by Apple, also allows users to connect to captive Wi-Fi networks for the first time.
The changes come after Apple TV got a completely redesigned video player with larger titles and more accessible subtitles in tvOS 15 last fall.
Apple TV gets nice improvements in tvOS 15.4
The first tvOS 15.4 beta rolled out to registered developers Thursday alongside iOS and iPadOS 15.4 and macOS 12.3. It doesn’t look like much at first glance, but it does bring some notable improvements.
Apple made further tweaks to Apple TV’s video player, adding the ability to see your Up Next queue when you pause or swipe using the Siri Remote. This is in addition to seeing it from the “Now Playing” screen.

tvOS 15.4 also lets you connect to rather annoying captive Wi-Fi networks that require additional login steps, like those in hotels and dorms. It uses iPhone or iPad to initiate the login process, Apple says.
tvOS 15.4 coming soon
tvOS 15.4 also includes tweaked spatial audio controls for compatible AirPods. It’s not yet clear when the update will be available to all Apple TV owners, but assuming there are no big bugs, it should be soon.
