Apple TV+ will premiere The Sky Is Everywhere, a story of love and loss, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

A trailer for the upcoming film debuted Thursday, giving viewers a first look at a young woman simultaneously dealing with the death of her sister and her first love.

The Sky Is Everywhere deals with first love and first loss

The Sky Is Everywhere stars Grace Kaufman as Lennie Walker, a radiant musical prodigy struggling with grief following the death of her sister, Bailey. She finds herself drawn to Joe Fontaine (Jacques Colimon), a new guy at school, but Walker’s complicated relationship with her sister’s devastated boyfriend starts to affect Lennie’s and Joe’s budding love.

The Apple TV+ movie is an adaptation of a Jandy Nelson young-adult novel of the same name. Nelson adapted her own book into the script.

Apple, which acquired the rights to the film in October 2019, teamed up with indie film studio A24 for the production. Acclaimed filmmaker Josephine Decker (Madeline) will direct.

Grace Kaufman has done a variety of TV roles, often voice acting. Jacques Colimon is an award-winning Haitian-American performer, poet, and human rights activist.

The Sky Is Everywhere premieres February 11, 2022 in select theaters and globally on Apple TV+.

More Apple TV+ tearjerkers

Those who enjoy sniffling through a movie should also watch Justin Timberlake in Palmer, already on Apple’s streaming service. Or there’s Blush. And CODA, a film that’s up for a slew of awards, including a Golden Globe for best drama. Watching any of these comes with a $4.99-per-month subscription to Apple TV+.

And it’s not all weepers. Viewers can enjoy comedies, mysteries, thrillers, crime dramas, documentaries, sci-fi and much more.
