Apple Music is now available on compatible LG smart TVs, just a few weeks after expanding its reach to PlayStation 5. The app is almost identical — in design and functionality — to Apple Music on the Apple TV.
Users can access their entire music library, as well as playlists, radio stations, and even music videos.
Apple Music rolls out to LG smart TVs
LG confirmed the arrival of Apple Music, with “over 90 million songs streaming ad-free,” on Twitter — but it didn’t tell customers specifically which TVs are supported. But there’s a really simple way to find out on your own set.
Simply load up LG’s smart TV App Store and search for Apple Music. If the app appears and can be downloaded, your TV is supported. If it doesn’t appear or can’t be downloaded, then you’re out of luck.
With Apple Music installed, LG TV users get an experience identical to that on Apple TV, with the same user interface, and access to almost all of the same features — including your library, playlists, radio, and music videos.
What about Dolby Atmos?
The app also supports live lyrics, which automatically follow the music. However, it’s not yet clear if LG smart TVs support Dolby Atmos or lossless audio tracks, which are often missing on third-party hardware.
