Apple Unleashed event bug AirPods Pro didn’t get a big refresh like regular AirPods during Apple’s “Unleashed” event today, but they are now available with a new Charging Case that’s fully compatible with the MagSafe charger for iPhone.

The change doesn’t affect AirPods Pro’s price tag, which remains at $249.

AirPods Pro get new MagSafe charging case

AirPods Pro have always been capable of wireless charging, and they’ve always worked just fine with a MagSafe charger, since it uses the same Qi charging technology found in most of the wireless charging pads on the market today.

However, unlike iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, the original AirPods Pro case didn’t attach to the MagSafe charger magnetically, which meant it was easy to knock it off, or place it down incorrectly so that your AirPods didn’t charge at all.

That problem has now been fixed. Buy AirPods Pro from Apple today and you’ll get a new MagSafe Charging Case that’s been adapted to securely attach to the MagSafe charger. The price remains the same at $249.

It should be noted that the revised units likely haven’t rolled out to third-party retailers yet, so if you’re buying new AirPods Pro in the coming days and you want full MagSafe compatibility, you might want to buy directly from Apple.

AirPods get more affordable

Apple hasn’t dropped second-generation AirPods from its lineup after introducing the new third-generation buds. But it drop their price tag from $179 to a much more affordable $129, making them great for first-time buyers.

You can order all three AirPods variants alongside AirPods Max from the Apple Store now.
