On-screen game controls can be hard to use, but the GameSir X2 Lightning Mobile Gaming Controller adds physical buttons and joysticks to your iPhone. This newly-launched version includes a Lightning connector, making Bluetooth unnecessary.

In a related development, the GameSir F7 Claw Tablet Game Controller for larger devices is now available on Amazon.

GameSir X2 Lightning Mobile Gaming Controller is just for iPhone

The X2 is somewhat like an Xbox controller that’s been split down the middle to surround the phone. It has left and right joysticks and ABXY buttons. Plus L1/L2 and R1/R2 trigger buttons, and grips to make holding the device easier.

The GameSir X2 Lightning can be used with Apple Arcade and MFi games. And it supports cloud-gaming services, like Google Stadia, Amazon Luna and Xbox Game Pass.

Because it includes a Lightning connector, the latest version accessory is specifically designed for iPhone. With a hardware connection, lag is minimized. It supports pass-through charging so the handset can get power while the game goes on.

The GameSir X2 Lightning Mobile Gaming Controller is available from the GameSir website for $69.99 (£51.99). It’s expected to hit Amazon in the coming months.

There’s also a Bluetooth version of the X2 for those who want to game on both iPhone and Android.

GameSir F7 Claw Tablet Game Controller now on Amazon

GameSir released a game controller designed for tablets in spring 2021 and it’s now available through Amazon. The GameSir F7 Claw uses Bluetooth and is comparable with iPad or Android slates.

It attaches to either side of the device to add buttons and handles. The capacitive screen is still used for most controls but GameSir’s offering adds “trigger” buttons. That includes R1 and R2 as well as L1 and L2. There are also Turbo buttons.

The game controller fits tablets between 0.24 inches and 0.5 in. (6mm – 12mm) in thickness but of almost any length and height. Suction cups hold the two components to the device. USB-C ports recharge the built in batteries.

The GameSir F7 Claw Tablet Game Controller can be found now on Amazon. It costs $39.99.
