ElevationLab launched a deceptively simple accessory on Thursday called MagBase. It helps with one of the more frustrating aspects users find with the Apple MagSafe Charger. Using the base, you can easily pick up your iPhone 12 with one hand, still attached to the charger — or not.

As great as Apple’s MagSafe Charger is, it magnetically sticks tightly to the iPhone 12, making it awkward to detach unless you use two hands.

Luckily, now a device comes along and fixes that for the low, low price of $10. There are other bases and table mounts for MagSafe Chargers out there, but it’s hard to find one that inexpensive.

How does this little thing work? Using a micro air suction pad on its bottom, ElevationLab’s MagBase grips any surface, like a nightstand or a desk — wherever you keep your MagSafe Charger, or wherever you move it. When you move the base, rinse its underside, air dry it and restick it to the new surface, the company said.

You can drop the MagSafe charging disk right into the base’s shallow silicone cavity. Then you can lay the iPhone 12 on top of the charger, as usual.

When you’re done charging, you can grab the iPhone with one hand and pull it to the side, sliding it off the charger and base. Or, if you want to look at your phone while it’s still charging, the base’s design lets you simply lift the charger out of the base still attached to the phone.

ElevationLab includes a three-foot, USB-C extension cord with the MagBase, extending its reach.
