You know that kid in school who never took his jacket off? I think his name was Belkin. The accessories maker launched a pair of Always-On Laptop Cases that pretty much ensure your MacBook always keeps it coat on.

The new Belkin cases, or sleeves as Amazon refers to them, are soft cases that strap onto a laptop so you can just open the sleeve and the laptop along with it to start working. Elastic straps wrapped around the wrist rests secure the bottom end of the computer. Transparent plastic covers the top.

If you bump or scrape your laptop a lot, or share it with others, this could be for you. These cases, by the way, are in addition to Belkin’s Air Protect Always-On line of light cases.

Belkin Always-On Laptop Cases cover many machines

The two sizes hold a variety of MacBooks, Chromebooks and other laptops in place on the go or when in use. The smaller model protects 11- to 12-inch laptops. The larger model enfolds 13- to 14-inch machines.

Twelve South’s cozy and handsome quilted SuitCase also lets you easily work while the laptop is still in the case, though it doesn’t actually grip the device.

No need to take it off

Belkin said the sleeves allow full laptop functionality, port access and screen visibility when the laptop is in use.

As you might assume, the new Belkin have an exterior handle and shoulder strap, just like any carrying case.

The sleeves come only in the color black, so they’re easy to clean and ideal if you prefer your machine not stand out. They also come with a name tag.

Pricing and availability

Availability of the sleeves seems to vary, depending on whether you look for them at Belkin.com or on Amazon. Belkin shows the small one available for $27.99 and the big one “sold out” at $29.99. Amazon shows them available for pre-order for an August 10 release date, with the small one priced at $27.99 but the large one priced at $38.99, for some reason.
