Lorne Michaels’ parody/homage to musicals will soon leap onto Apple TV+. Schmigadoon! is loaded with big names singing and dancing, and it’ll premier on July 16.

Apple released the hilarious first trailer for the series. Watch it now.

To be clear, this isn’t a cheesy musical — it’s a parody of cheesy musicals. But one that was made by people who clearly love the genre.

Schmigadoon! follows a couple trying to reinvigorate their relationship with a backpacking trip. They stumble into the magical town of Schmigadoon in which everyone is living in a studio musical from the 1940s. Then the couple finds they can’t leave the town until they find true love.

Schmigadoon! brings some comedy chops

The six-episode series stars Cecily Strong, who joined the SNL troupe in 2012, and was nominated for an Emmy for her work on that show. Other acting credits in TV and film include the reboot of Ghostbusters. The upcoming Apple TV+ series also stars Keegan-Michael Key. He won an Emmy for his work on Key & Peele, and he was a cast member on Mad TV. Other shows Key appeared in include Parks and Recreation and Fargo.

And don’t overlook that screen-gems Alan Cumming and Jane Krakowski are  set to appear in the first season.

Schmigadoon! is co-created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio. Paul serves as showrunner, and wrote all of the original music for the series. Barry Sonnenfeld directs.

Watching the show requires a $4.99-per-month subscription to Apple TV+. But it also comes with similar shows, like the musical comedy Central Park, which starts its second season on Friday, June 25.
