An iPhone SE Plus with an edge-to-edge screen and Touch ID in the power button is supposedly coming in the second half of 2021. A concept designer transformed the leaked specs into a beautiful video exploring features of the proposed iOS handset. Watch it now.
The video is the creation of The Hacker 34. Unlike many other concept designers, he stays grounded in what’s really possible.
iPhone SE Plus could be on Apple’s drawing board
Trusted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted an iPhone SE Plus almost a year ago. He said it will have a 5.5-inch or 6.1-inch screen. Instead of a Home button, a Touch ID fingerprint scanner will be built into the power button. This report gained credence months later when the 2020 iPad Air was released with Touch ID in the power button.
The Hacker 34 based their latest concept device on Kuo’s leak, designing an iOS handset with a 6.1-inch, edge-to-edge screen. But they made some additions too. There’s MagSafe charging in their proposed version. And 5G.
The proposed price is $499. That’s $100 higher than the 2020 iPhone SE, but the “Plus” isn’t expected to replace Apple’s budget handset, but become a new mid-range option. Kuo predicted a year ago that the iPhone SE Plus would debut in the second half of 2021.
