SanDisk Luxe flash drive uses Lightning and USB-C to support all Apple devices

The SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive Luxe debuted on Wednesday
Securely share a collection of files between your iPhone, Mac and iPad with a new 2-in-1 flash drive from SanDisk.

The SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive Luxe lets you access its files on all your Apple computers, no adapters needed. It supports Lightning and USB Type-C, so it can plug into an iPhone, Mac or iPad. The same goes for many Windows and Android devices.

“The need to have several different digital storage solutions to accommodate multiple devices can be frustrating,” said Susan Park, a VP at Western Digital. “The iXpand Flash Drive Luxe offers a streamlined solution to making content more accessible across devices so consumers can keep creating without worrying about connectivity or having enough space.”

Benefits of the SanDisk Luxe

Apple users can store all their values on iCloud, of course. But a flash drive like this one offers more security. Especially as users can password-protect their files and photos with the iXpand Drive application. The app can also be used to free up space on an iPhone or to automatically back up photos, videos, documents and contacts.

The 2-in-1 drive is available in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities, with prices ranging from $44.99 to $89.99. The SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive Luxe can be purchased now on the Western Digital website.

Other flash drive options

The newest SanDisk product offers the benefits of convenience, but iPhones, iPads and Macs can connect to standard flash drives with the right adapters.

Apple’s USB-A to Lightning adapter lets iPhones work with thumbdrives. And there are a myriad of adapters with USB-A ports for iPad and Mac. The Plugable USB-C Multiport Adapter is just one example.
