The invite to an Apple October product event might have an upcoming device hidden in plain sight. Part of the graphic included with the invite apparently bears a strong resemblance to AirTags, the item-location tags that are supposedly on the docket for the October 13 event.
AirTags might finally debut at the Apple October event
The first information about Apple’s item trackers leaked out over a year ago, but some of the most concrete details came to light recently. That includes renders supposedly showing what the actual AirTags will look like.
Then, on Tuesday, Apple invited the world to an event on October 13 during which numerous new products are expected to be announced. The invite includes an image with the Apple logo set in a series of circles.
But the source for the AirTags renders, tipster Jon Prosser, quickly pointed out via Twitter that the center of the graphic Apple sent out on Tuesday looks quite a bit like his supposed AirTags render.

Of course, this could be a coincidence. The graphic is simply the Apple logo set in a circle. Still, it could also be a deliberate hint that AirTags are on the way.
Finally, a use for ultra-wideband
AirTags will supposedly be Apple’s version of item-tracking tags. Attach one of these small gizmos to a keychain or a purse and an iPhone can easy track down the device if it gets misplaced.
It’s expected to use ultra-wideband technology, in which radio signals are broadcast across a broad swath of the radio spectrum. This travels well through walls, and allows distances to be determined with great accuracy.
Apple built UWB into the iPhone 11 then never really came up with much use for it. Supposedly, the feature has been waiting on AirTags.
While this accessory might be part of the Apple October event, it’s not expected to play a big part. Not when the iPhone 12 and the first Mac with Apple Silicon are allegedly on the agenda.
