Mark Spurrell is a Canadian tech YouTuber who knows a thing or two about building productive setups. His rig is geared toward getting things done. The mainstay is a 2020 27-inch iMac, a total workhorse of a machine.

He uses a sit-stand SmartDesk 2 by Autonomous. This desk is awesome for long grinds, because when he is bored of sitting, he can get new scenery with the click of a button. When he does sit down, he sits in a Kinn Chair, also made by Autonomous. This chair is basically an adapted Herman Miller Embody, the gold-standard of ergonomic office chairs. But at $419, it costs less than a third of the price.

His mouse of choice is a Logitech G305 Lightspeed Wireless Gaming Mouse. This gamer-grade mouse boasts a 1-millisecond response time that will destroy latency problems. He also has a Magic Trackpad. He uses both a mouse and a trackpad because it makes for easier Final Cut Pro timeline navigation and for gestures in macOS. To round out his peripherals, Spurrell employs a reliable Magic Keyboard.

Attached to his iMac is a Satechi Aluminum Type-C Clamp Hub Pro. This nifty gadget adds a USB-C data port, three USB 3.0 ports and a Micro/SD card reader slot for increased accessibility and easier cable management. To keep ideas from slipping his mind, he writes them down on a Quartet Glass Desktop Computer Pad. Essentially a mini dry-erase board, he keeps it in front of him at all times. He also has a FlashForge Adventurer 3 3D Printer in case he needs to build spare parts (or if he just wants to mess around).

Just as plants convert light into fuel via photosynthesis, Spurrell thinks increased daylight leads to increased energy. His desk sits right in front of his window so he can soak up some rays. He also uses daylight-balanced Nanoleaf pads to amplify the natural light in the room.

On occasions, he even brings a huge studio light into his office to really crank up the overall wattage. He also has a BenQ Computer Monitor Light on top of his iMac for additional lighting.
