Pro-tip-4Fortnite is currently banned from the App Store following a big fallout between Apple and Epic Games. But for some players, that doesn’t mean it’s gone from iPhone and iPad for good.

So long as you’ve downloaded Fortnite at least once before, it’s still possible to re-download it today. We’ll show you how to do it.

It’s unlikely Fortnite will return to the App Store anytime soon. Apple refuses to change its rules on in-app purchases, or the 30% cut it charges third-party devs, and Epic will no longer comply with them.

This means that for brand-new Fortnite players, it’s now impossible to play the game on iPhone and iPad. But for those who have already played the game on iOS in the past, there is a way to get it back.

How to re-download Fortnite on iPhone and iPad

Simply follow these steps:

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Tap your avatar in the top-right corner of the Today section.
  3. Select Purchased.
  4. Tap My Purchases.
  5. Use the search box to find Fortnite.
  6. Tap the re-download button.

It’s important to note that you won’t see Fortnite — or have the ability to re-download it — if you haven’t downloaded it from the App Store at least once before. There is no other way.

It’s unclear whether Apple will prevent Fortnite re-downloads in the future as another stab toward Epic. But for now, at least, the game isn’t completely gone.

Fortnite fetching a premium on eBay

Some iPhone and iPad owners who do have the ability to download Fortnite are taking advantage of the ongoing battle between Apple and Epic by charging a premium for their devices on eBay.

Some devices are listed for thousands of dollars simply because they ship with Fortnite pre-installed.
