It’s unlikely you’ll miss much if you never open the Twitter app again, but there might be a few accounts you follow (like Cult of Mac’s, for instance) that provide worthwhile content you want to see.

Here’s how to get an alert every time they tweet.

How many times were you the last to find out about breaking news, a big event, or something else simply because you were too busy to check Twitter. It doesn’t have to be that way.

Using this guide, you can enable notifications for people and accounts you follow so that you receive an alert every time they tweet. All you need is the official Twitter app for iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

How to enable Twitter alerts

Once you have the Twitter app installed and you’re logged in, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure that the Twitter app is authorized to send you push notifications. You can do this by opening the Settings app, tapping Notifications, then tapping Twitter.
  2. Open the Twitter app and find the person or account you want to receive alerts for.
  3. Above the account’s bio, find and tap the bell button.
  4. Choose the kind of alerts you want to receive. You can receive notifications for all tweets, or just those with video.

All done! You will now receive push notifications as soon as a new tweet is posted. To disable this feature later if it’s no longer needed, simply tap the bell button again, then choose None.
