If nautical nonsense be something you wish, then drop on the deck and download SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit, a side-scroller that debuted Friday on Apple Arcade.

SpongeBob to the rescue!

Plankton stole the precious Krabby Patty recipe, and Patrick, Squidward, Sandy and Gary have been captured. It’s up to SpongeBob SquarePants to release them so they can help retrieve the secret formula.

SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit is a side-scrolling platformer in which a certain pants-wearing sponge zooms through Bikini Bottom. He must defeat not only Plankton but also Jellyfish King and other bosses, while collecting spatulas and coins.

All the voices are done by the actors from the long-running Nickelodeon show. “There’s all the exhortations: ‘Woo!’ ‘Oh boy!’ ‘We’re getting this!’” said Tom Kenny, who has voiced the title character for decades, in an interview with Apple. “You want that enthusiasm, even in these little exclamations.”

The adventure game is for kids 4 and up. This is a single-player game that’s playable on iPhone, iPad and Apple TV.

Now on Apple Arcade

SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit, and over 100 more titles, are all part of Apple Arcade. Playing any or all of them costs $4.99 a month, and no more — in-app purchases and ads are banned.

This isn’t the first time Nickelodeon has teamed up with Apple’s gaming service. A game based on the network’s hit show Loud House debuted in February.
