Remote home security company August Home announced Tuesday it’s new HomeKit-enabled Wi-Fi Smart Lock is now on sale, after its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show this past January.

The electromechanical lock at $249.99 is 45% smaller than the original model with integrated Wi-Fi and easy setup for Apple’s HomeKit that lets users control smart-home appliances using Apple devices.

The August Wi-Fi Smart Lock will let users remotely lock or unlock the door, and check its status. The device automatically locks the door when someone leaves their home, and even unlock it for you when you’re back home. Guests can also be granted access using virtual keys when the owner is not at home.

HomeKit ready

The lock now supports HomeKit so it can be controlled through the Home app on an iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple Watch. Siri’s voice command is also supported to quickly and easily ask that any door be opened.

The lock also supports Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa, SimpliSafe, and Samsung SmartThings.

In terms of installation, the smart lock attaches to an existing deadbolt on the inside of a door, allowing users to use their original keys.  The lock is made in either matte black and silver.

The August Wi-Fi Smart Lock is now available to purchase on its website and at Best Buy. Other retailers will be selling the unit beginning May 17.
