An Apple employee teaches the basics of the free GarageBand music-creation software in an new video tutorial from Today at Apple. It covers sampling sounds from your kitchen to make house music.
Normally, these free educational sessions are held in Apple Stores, but with these all closed during the COVID-19 crisis, they’ve gone online. There are already training videos for drawing and taking better pictures.
Take a 5-minute GarageBand tutorial
The latest video, which debuted Friday March 17, is called “Turn your home into music with GarageBand.” According to Apple, “Rosie from Apple Regent Street in London demonstrates how to whip together sounds from your kitchen to create a sweet ‘house’ music track using the free GarageBand app.”
It’s accessible only on the Today at Apple website. It’s not on Apple’s YouTube channel.
GarageBand is Apple’s free music- and podcast-creation application. Rosie’s demonstration is done with the iPad and iPhone version, but there’s also a Mac version.
More session from Today at Apple at Home
Today At Apple debuted in stores back in 2017, but temporarily moved online on April 10. The “At Home” program began with just a few video workshops, including one for drawing “playful portraits” on iPad. And the other two cover creating “striking” photographs with the iPhone camera and shooting photos “full of personality” with iPhone.
They are all free, as is the software they teach.
