Minix Neo Storage Pro is a 480GB solid-state drive that’s also a USB-C multi-port adapter. Plug it into a MacBook and it expands the storage capacity, while also adding HDMI and USB-A ports. And there’s also an accessible Thunderbolt 3 port.

“Minix Neo Storage Pro’s future-forward USB-C connectivity, versatility and storage functionality make it the ultimate companion for your Apple MacBook Air/Pro,” promises the developer.

Storage and additional connectivity from the Minix Neo Storage Pro

This adapter uses both the USB-C ports on the side of the macOS laptop. That allows it to fit snugly against the Mac. But it also means this product doesn’t support iPad Pro.

Inside is an SSD. Minix plans 240GB, 480GB and 960GB versions of its latest product. The MacBook can access this external drive at up to 400MB per second.

In addition, the Neo Storage Pro includes an HDMI port that can drive a 4K monitor at 60Hz. Plus, a USB 3.0 Type-A port brings access to legacy accessories.

There’s also a Thunderbolt 3 port in this adapter. This enables the MacBook to connect to a USB-C display, do super-fast data transfers, and more.

Minix created a demo video.

Coming soon

Although Minix announced the Neo Storage Pro on April 13, the product won’t hit Indiegogo until May. The actual launch will be some time after that.

Super Early Bird pricing for the 480GB version of this adapter/SSD will be $99.90. Early Bird pricing will be $119.90, while the regular cost will be $129.90.

Minix also created the original Neo Storage, an external SSD with up to 240GB of capacity that’s also a 4-port USB hub.
