Apple is hooking up its employees with some huge discounts on a few of its audio products this week.

It’s unclear whether it’s being done to help employees be entertained while working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic or an effort to move surplus units during a sales lull.

The HomePod has been discounted by 50% during the internal sales promotion, dropping the price to just $149.50, according to iGeneration. Apple has run a couple of promotional discounts on the smart speaker, which originally debuted with a $350 price tag.

Beats headphones have also reportedly been heavily discounted, though exact pricing details weren’t shared.

Discounts like this aren’t unprecedented, but they usually come after Apple has released a new product. Retail and corporate employees are also given one-time discount options that can be used on any Apple product.

Apple is rumored to be working on a new version of the HomePod that is more affordable, though details on a launch date haven’t been rumored. The company is also supposedly planning to launch Apple-branded over-the-ear headphones that could come as soon as WWDC 2020, per the often-reliable leaker Jon Prosser.
