A free year of Apple TV+ goes to everyone who buys a new iPhone, Mac or iPad. But time to sign up for this deal is running out for those who made their purchase just before the launch of Apple’s streaming video service.
Get your free year of Apple TV+ now
Anyone who bought a new iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV or Mac after September 10, 2019 is eligible for a free year of Apple TV+. But the buyer must redeem this offer within three months of the purchase.
For all devices bought after Sept. 10 and before the November 1 launch of Apple‘s streaming video service, the three-month sign-up window began Nov. 1. That means it’s closing January 31 — tomorrow.
Those who bought any of the eligible devices after Nov. 1 have longer to sign up. iPhones, iPads, etc. given as holiday gifts likely have until March.
Why it’s worth it
There was plenty of early skepticism about the quality of Apple TV+ programs. But this streaming service has developed quality shows. Critics gave Servant an 84% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and the audience score was equally high. Little America garnered critical and audience approval. And Jennifer Aniston earned a Screen Actors Guild award for her role on The Morning Show.
And even Apple shows that critics panned have generally high audience scores.
Plus, keep in mind that an subscription will last will into next fall. There are more than half a dozen new shows scheduled for this spring, including Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories reboot and a thriller starring Chris Evans. Additional servers are expected this summer and fall.
Claiming a free subscription just involves opening the Apple TV app on the new device. A pop-up window offering the service for a year will appear.
